The Curiosity Combobulator

I partnered with the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum to design an interactive photo backdrop for their front window, which would be featured in Grand Rapids’ World of Winter Festival.

The Curiosity Combobulator is a zany, made-up machine that invites viewers to activate their minds by “stepping into” the contraption. Bursting out of the machine are nods to familiar elements of the children’s museum, alongside other playful motifs such as a pencil, flowers, building blocks and more. Much like the museum, the machine is a conduit for play. The interactive element reminds us that we all have curiosity inside, we just have to turn it on.
